Why Me Lord?

Why me God, why always me? Why this set back in my finances? Why this illness? Why did I lose
this loved one? Why was I fired? Why, why, why!

When I weigh all the negative things in my life against the positive, they will out weigh the scales.
In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord says that he has good plans for my life, plans not to harm me but to give me hope.
Then again, why all these? Has my tithing not been enough? My praise not been pleasant? Have my prayers been noise in your ears?
Why have you forsaken me dear God?
Such are human thoughts.
Lets take a look at some case studies from the bible.
• Naomi
After the death of her husband, Elimelech, and later her two sons, Mahlon and Chilion, she was devastated. She moved out of Moab to Bethlehem and changed her name from Naomi meaning pleasant to Mara meaning empty. She was bitter and chose to dwell on the negative .
(Ruth chapters 1 and 2)
• Prophet Samuel.
He mentored Saul as the King of Israel. Saul started off well but he got off-course and God told Samuel that He was going to reject Saul. Samuel wept and wept and it reached a point where God asked him for how long was he going to moan over His rejection of Saul reigning?
(1st Samuel 16:1)
• Jesus
Jesus asks God why He had forsaken Him. He felt abandoned in the fulfillment of Scriptures when he got crucified at the Cross.
(Mark 15:34b)
• Job
After Job had lost all his possessions, he cried out cursing the day he was born. He got to a point where he hated his life, his soul was bitter and asked God whether it pleased Him to oppress him, to spurn the work of his hands while smiling on the plans of the
wicked.
(Job chapter 3)
(Job 10: 1-4)
OUTCOMES
• Naomi
Ruth followed Naomi to Bethlehem and was later married by Boaz with whom they got a son
called Obed. When Naomi held him, she saw a boy of her husband's inheritance and restoration of
old age ,Obed bought nourishment to Naomi's life and through Obed, Naomi became a member
of the lineage of Jesus Christ.
God resorted Naomi.
• Prophet Samuel
He anointed David as the next king of Israel. He became the greatest king there was and
in 1st Samuel 18, David had success in all his undertakings because God was with him and his
soldiers. He was victorious in his battles. Do you clearly see why God had instructed Samuel to anoint another King despite how hard Samuel moaned over it?
• Jesus
After his death, Jesus resurrected. In John 11:25-26, Jesus tells a woman that He is the resurrection
and the light and whoever believes in Him will live even though he dies. In 1st Peter 3:22, we learn
that Jesus ascended into heaven and He is seated at the right hand of the father. The right hand side shows a place of honor, hence God did not forsake Jesus as Jesus thought he had done.
• Job
In Job 42:10-17, God turned around the captivity of Job. In verse 12,God gave Job twice as he had
before. God not only restored Job's fortune but He also restored them in abundance.
LESSSONS LEARNT
• God is on the throne and He will scale up the tips in the honor of those who trust in Him.
• We should stay in faith but not bitterness when we are faced with misfortunes in our lives.
• In difficult times, we should abstain from negative thoughts that break us, but we should rather be positive and have faith in God.
• God restores.
• In our difficulties we should keep honoring God by doing the right things.
• We should keep moving forward as Naomi did by moving out of Moab to Bethlehem and
that's where her blessings were, thus, we should not dwell in a place full of misfortunes.
